Shawn was born and raised in St. Albans, Vermont where he, early on, grew a passion for
photography with his old Kodak 120 film and later 35mm film cameras. He always has had a
passion for shooting outdoor landscapes. At 20 years old, he decided to follow the military
path of both his father and grandfather before him. Shawn served in the Marine Corps from
1997 -2002, he served in the Air National Guard from 2002 – 2009, and Army from 2009 – 2016.
Though he con#nued his passion for photography through his military career, it wasn’t until he
retired in 2016 when he started shooting professionally. Upon retiring from the 10
th Mountain Division, Shawn decided to make NNY his new home and established roots in Philadelphia, New
York for himself, his 3 boys, Holdyn, Deaglan and Lachlan and His Service Dog, Luna. Though
Shawn’s professional photography is from across upstate New York, his primary areas of focus
are in the Thousand Islands and the Adirondacks. He also does shoot wildlife in color and
churches in black & white, as the subjects present and as he is drawn to shoot them. He enjoys
shooting star trails and astro-photography when clear enough skies prevail. He currently shoots
primarily with his Sony a7rIV (mirrorless), but still shoots occasionally with his Nikon D7200
(DSLR) and his Nikon N80 (35mm).
