Sharon Hughto finds joy in putting paint to canvas. This joy is the essence of her art. It shines right through in her work. After discovering her talent for portraying landscapes and for creating art that incorporates her unique sense of images that surround her, Sharon launched Boathouse Studio in Dexter, New York where many of her paintings can be viewed.
Friendly and outgoing, Sharon loves to talk about her painting process. After trying oils and experimenting with other media, Sharon now works almost exclusively in acrylics. She finds acrylics to be more engaging, as they provide her the opportunities to paint with texture and vividness.
Sharon also shows her work at Fibonacci, Watertown, NY. Her art is also a part of private collections in Syracuse, NY and Rochester, NY as well as New York City. Her works are also shown in Austin, Texas and seasonally at Thousand Island Art Center, Clayton, New York. She participates in the annual shows, Artists on the Point, Dexter, NY and Holiday Bazaar, Rochester, NY. Sharon is also a board member of The North Country Arts Council and Chairperson of the Fall Art Show.
