Artist Bio - Kim Hoerster -Georgetown, Texas

Kim began Sam Houston State University as an art major but she changed her major to dance after her freshman year to further her career as a gymnastics coach. In 1977 Kim began opening gymnastics schools to pay for college. She and her husband, Gerry, still own and operate Gymnastic schools in central Texas. They have raised two sons together.
Kim discontinued art in 1977 and it was not until 2004 that she came back. She took lessons at several studios, then enrolled in art classes at Austin Community College. At ACC she took college level I & II courses in drawing, life drawing, painting, design, and watercolor. She took art history in Florence, Italy at Florence University of the Arts.
Kim's favorite medium is watercolor and Plein Air (painting outdoors) in watercolor has become a passion for the adventure, travel, and social aspect.
Kim held her first art show 'Awakening' July 2008, hosted by the Healing Arts Gallery. Her second show followed August 2008 at Framers Gallery. Numerous shows followed.
Kim loves teaching art, which feels natural after so many years of coaching gymnastics. Kim opened a new studio in Sept. 2012 under the name ArtSea Lessons & Studio. The space is bright and clean with 4 wash sinks for brushes, 16 stand up easels, tables, chairs, display wall for art and more. The studio is located upstairs with-in the building of Acrotex in Georgetown, Texas. Classes are on-going.
