Meet Our Artists

Sharon Hughto

Acrylic and Textile Painting

After  discovering her talent for portraying landscapes, and for creating art  that incorporates her unique sense of images that surround her, Sharon  Hughto opened Boathouse Studio on the shores of Lake Ontario on Pillar  Point in Dexter, NY. The joy of working in acrylics is the essence of  her art. It shines right through in her work using color and texture.  Friendly and outgoing, Sharon loves to talk about her painting process.  Visit her work art River Muse and other local galleries as well as her  website.

Kristy Hoover

Illustration, Abstract Painting, Ceramics

Kristy Hoover: Joining River Muse in December 2020...

Kristy (Askins) Hoover is an award winning multi-media artist located in Watertown, NY. She received both her BFA and her MA in Studio Art at SUNY Oswego. Her most recent figurative drawings and ceramic sculptures are intended to inspire emotion and connect with the viewer on a personal, emotional level while relating to past and present social issues. While her pottery work is both decorative and utilitarian, some are slightly obscene yet relatable. Completely opposite from her hyper realistic large scale drawings, she has a large collection of abstract prints and paintings.

Artist Statement- As an artist, I believe it is my duty to use my voice, not only connect with the viewers on an emotional level, but to also give a voice to others through my works.

Laura Rock Kopczak

Watercolor, Plein Air

Laura Rock Kopczak splits her time between Clayton and Saugerties, NY, where she studies watercolors with Staats Fasoldt of Woodstock School of Art. She spent many summers as a child at Sand Bay and worked her first jobs in Clayton.  In her art she seeks to capture the vitality and energy of the natural world, with a focus on colorful shapes and soft edges. She has been a puppeteer with Arm of the Sea Theater and is working to create a new cultural center in Saugerties.
